Our Mission

Cartoon style drawing of a chain link

Science has changed the way we live, but there is a widening gap between scientific innovation and its public beneficiaries.

As researchers, we unintentionally widen these gaps through academic silos, deepening a disconnect between our highly specialised research and the people we work to help.

The Citizens of Science Program was created to narrow the communication gap between researchers and the general public. It aims to educate young researchers how to be better at sharing their research, and gives a chance to members of the general public to gain new insights into the field of medical research.

Our Goals

Cartoon style drawings of several important things for medical research. A microscope, a computer, an atom, the chemical symbol for oestrogen, and a mouse

Develop medical graduate research students into public-conscious scientists, science communicators and diverse leaders through leading a citizen science engagement program.

Cartoon style image representing subjects of medical research. Antibodies, cells, syringes, DNA, bacteria, and a brain

Inspire the public to engage with science through establishing a baseline of life science literacy and understanding of research & the scientific method.
